Canico, Madeira
The resort of Canico is divided into two different sections, the traditional Old Village with a main square and the modern resort area. Most of the bars and restaurants are hotel based but there are some in the resort. There is a small pebble beach which offers a variety of watersports.

Canico does have a beach, however, it is a pebble beach. The area is great for activities such as walking, hiking and golf but a trip to Funchal may provide a wider variety of shops, restaurants and bars. Perfect for families and couples looking for a peaceful resort due to the lack of nightlife.
The attractive Old Village is centred around the village square and is a maze of cobbbled streets and a 18th Century church.
The resort may not be suitable with those with walking difficulties due to the steep landscape.
