Florida Hotels
With theme parks, miles of beaches, quaint small towns and cosmopolitan cities, the fun in the sun is known as Florida.
It's not just theme parks though, Florida offers a diverse range of resorts to visit, with a huge amount of things to do and see.
The capital of Florida State is Tallahassee and the largest city is Jacksonville. Symbolic animals to Florida such as the American alligator, Florida panther and the manatee, can be found in the Everglades which is one of the most famous national parks in the world.
How Hot?
Florida otherwise known as the Sunshine State, it offers a mild, sunny climate throughout the year. Florida maintains a comfortable average annual temperature of 72ºF and a mostly dry climate from October to May.
The summer months are the rainy season, generally starting in June and lasting through to September/early October.
Florida's long coastline does put it in the hurricane belt, which may approach from either the Atlantic or the Gulf coast. Hurricane season begins 1st June and ends on 30th November, with the highest potential for storms between mid-August to mid-October. However, the daily weather during this period tends to be some of the most beautiful of the year.
Out and About
Whether it is the thrilling theme parks, exciting water parks, the beautiful beaches of the west coast, the eclectic lifestyle of the Florida Keys or the grandeur of the Everglades, there is something for everyone in Florida.
If it's theme parks you are after then this is the place to be and with most of the major theme parks located around the central belt it makes access to the parks easy whether you hire a car or use public transport. The main parks are the 4 Walt Disney parks and 2 Universal parks but there are also various waterparks, Seaworld marine park, mini golf and entertainment areas such as Disney Springs and Universal City Walk. Although there are some great rides at Disney and Universal, there are some far bigger and more thrilling rides to be found at Busch Gardens, Tampa which is around an hours drive from Walt Disney World and may be better suited to older children.
Florida is also very well known for it's golf and with hundreds of beautiful courses on offer it is clear to see why. It is possible to play golf all year round although it can become quite uncomfortable playing in the summer months and can be more enjoyable at cooler times of the year.
Shopping is another activity which is very popular here and there is such a great range from malls with all the large department stores to designer outlet villages. So if you are looking for a bargain or some designer gear then this is the place to visit. There are also many flea markets dotted about the place if you want to purchase some locally produced items at great prices.
If you want to kick back and relax, there are plenty of beautiful beaches worth a visit, such as St Petersburg and Clearwater. You may also want to visit the Everglades National Park which is home to wildlife such as manatee and crocodile. Miami is also down this neck of the woods and very lively, such a great place to party.
A trip to Florida is not complete without a trip down the east coast to Fort Lauderdale which is also known as Little Venice and the fantastic NASA Kennedy Space Centre.
Orlando is full of interesting museums and galleries so if you want to take a break from the theme parks and immerse yourself in a little culture then visit one of the many cultural attractions.
So for lots of fun in the sun, come and visit the Sunshine State.
