Location

Royal Orchid Hotel enjoys a sea front location on the cliffs at Canico de Baixo. The shops and restaurants in the village centre of Canico are approx 2km. The hotel is aprox 12km from the centre of Funchal (to which the hotel runs a free shuttle 6 days a week). The hotel is approx 9km from Madeira Airport.

Facilities

Royal Orchid Hotel has sun terraces set into the cliffs with views over the Atlantic, as well as an outdoor swimming pool, sun loungers, parasols, showers and a heated indoor swimming pool. A courtesy bus to Funchal runs daily apart from Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Further leisure facilities include a diving centre, a health club, a games room with billiards and snooker, a reading lounge and a TV lounge. The seasonal Diving Centre offers diving trips to the caves and canyons of the underwater natural park, PADI courses and snorkelling equipment to hire. The Nautilus Health Club offers a range of massage treatments (local charge) and features a sauna and jacuzzi, a Turkish bath, an indoor heated swimming pool, newly renovated fitness gym and fitness sessions such as Zumba, body pump, spinning etc. Guests can also use the indoor and outdoor swimming pools available at Hotel Cais da Oliveira and also the sea water pool at Hotel Rocamar.

Social and dining venues include a restaurant serving regional and international cuisine and a lounge bar with a happy hour every evening.

Amenities and services available to guests include 24 hour reception with multi-lingual staff and car parking spaces. The hotel also runs a free shuttle service to Funchal 6 days a week. There is also dry cleaning and laundry services, room service and an internet corner (all with local charges).

Rooms

There are 98 hotel rooms, comprising 71 studios, 25 junior suites, 1 senior suite and 1 penthouse suite. The rooms are spread over 7 floors and served by an elevator. Many have sea views.

The junior suites have a bedroom, a living and dining area, kitchen, bathroom with a bath or shower and a balcony. The penthouse has 2 bedrooms, a lounge and dining room, a fitted kitchen, jacuzzi and bathroom. The studios do not have a separate bedroom.

All accommodation is spacious, tastefully styled and features satellite TV, a direct dial telephone, a hair dryer, a safe (local charge), a fridge, a microwave, a 2 or 3 ring hob, a toaster, heating and air conditioning.
