Beaches
Vilaflor is a mountain village, approx 1500 metres above sea level and surrounded by pine forests. However, if the beach beckons, the south coast is an easy drive which takes around 30 minutes.
Things to Do
Take a hiking tour to the lunar landscapes of the Paisage Lunar. Starting from Vilaflor, head through the pine forests and uphill to wonderful views. There is resting area close to the surreal white cones and weird shapes of the Paisage Lunar. This eye-catching landscape is the result of thousands of years of natural erosion into the layers of ash and debris which landed following a volcanic eruption around half a million years ago.
Relax your weary walking muscles at the Spa, in the adult only Spa Villalba Hotel, which has massage treatment rooms and a full compliment of facilities including a swimming pool with massage jets, a Turkish bath, sauna, jacuzzi and fitness gym.
Save your legs and take a trip into the Teide National Park and ride the Teide Cable Car to the summit of the Teide mountain, which is the 3rd highest volcano in the world and the highest peak in Spain.
Out and About
Vilaflor is the highest village in Tenerife and is set amid terraced countryside with mountain views at every turn. Extensive views can be seen from the Ermita de san Roque or from the Mirador restaurant opposite. Stroll around the steep narrow streets and you will find the pretty 17th church of San Pedro.
The village has a few cafe bars and restaurants where you can enjoy traditional Canarian cuisine. Everyday amenities include a few small supermarkets and a petrol station.
Nearby Attractions
The beach resorts of Los Cristianos, Playa de las Americas and the Costa Adeje are approx 30 minutes drive. Between them you have endless choices for shopping, dining and entertainment, dark sand beaches, golden sand beaches, zoos, water parks and harbours for water sports and boat trips.
Also just 30 minutes drive away, you will find the golf courses in resort of Golf del Sur, the surfing beaches of El Medano and the quaint fishing villages of Las Galettas and Los Abrigos.
