How Hot?
Mexico is a large country with tropical forests, dry deserts, fertile valleys and snow-capped mountains and its weather can vary greatly from one destination to another. There are two main seasons in Mexico; rainy and dry, with some variation in temperatures over the year.
Dry season runs from October to April where there is little or no rain, and from May to late September or early October, the rainy season runs through most of Mexico, generally rainfall occurs in the late afternoon and evenings.
Along the Caribbean coast the Yucatan Peninsula sits in the hurricane belt, which includes the resorts of Mayan Riviera, Cancun, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres and Merida.
Hurricane season lasts from June through to November, though most occur between August and October. While the likelihood of a direct hit is small, if travelling during hurricane season, we recommend you check your travel insurance policy before you leave, and shop around if necessary to make sure you have the necessary cover.
