Gale is a tranquil beach resort, comprising mainly villa accommodation and boasting 5km of sandy beach which stretches past the Salgados Golf Course and on to Armacao de Pera.
The resort offers many beach bars and restaurants, cliff top walks and a quiet and laid back atmosphere with the option of the Albufeira nightlife a short taxi ride away.

Beaches
There are 3 beaches in Gale, one of which is said to be one of the best in the Algarve. The main beach is a long stretch of golden sand with sunbeds for hire and a selection of watersports available. There are beachside cafes and bars for refreshments during the day or indeed at night. The beaches here are all supervised by a lifeguard during the summer season.
Gale Oeste is a continuation of the long stretch of sands and is backed by sand dunes. Again there are sunbeds for hire, watersports and a beach restaurant. There is a car park behind the beach and there are boarded walkways with ramps for easy access for wheelchair users and buggies for children. There are also special beach buggies available for disabled visitors.
Lorenco beach is a small sandy bay which is surrounded by shallow rock formations. There is a carpark here and there is good access for disabled visitors.
Things to Do
Gale is a pretty resort with shady orange groves and ancient figs trees but there really isn't a lot going on, life is generally centred around the beach.
If you want a break from the beach then you can grab a taxi and visit nearby Albufeira for a spot of shopping or perhaps just a wander.
Out and About
There are a couple of supermarkets in Gale so you will not be stuck for the basics. There are also a few little shops dotted around the resort. The shops in Gale are ok for food and holiday essentials but if you are looking for something specific, you may want to head to the large shopping mall which is approx 7km away and is home to a large supermarket and some designer shops for those who need their shopping fix.
There is a decent selection of bars and restaurants in Gale, some of which are positioned down at the beach. No matter what your taste or budget is, I'm sure you will find something to your liking.
If it's a party atmosphere you are after then this place is not for you but a good selection of bars and nightclubs can be found in Albufeira which is just a short drive away.
Nearby Attractions
As well has having a good selection of shops, the Algarve Shopping centre also has a cinema and ten pin bowling, so there is plenty to keep everyone occupied if shopping is not your thing.
Zoo Marine is just 15 minutes away and is also a great day out, offering many different attractions and activities and even the opportunity to swim with dolphins. The park can get busy so it is advisable to pre book the dolphin experience.
Although there are a couple of waterparks nearby, Slide and Splash Water Park in Lagoa is certainly worth a visit. It is open from April to October and offers great fun for all the family. The park is said to be one of the biggest waterparks in Europe and offers a variety of slides and attractions for everyone to enjoy.
The area is very popular with golfers and you will find many quality golf courses in the vicinity.
