Andalucia, the most charming region of southern Spain, promises warm sunshine throughout October with low levels of rain. We have holidays to the beach resorts and cities on the Costa Almeria and the Costa del Sol, both of which are in easy reach of Granada and, on the Costa de la Luz, which is in turn, an easy drive to Seville. The region is blessed with beautiful countryside and national parks and truly does offer something for everybody. Not least the many secluded beaches and charming fishing villages; the beautiful architecture and vibrant atmosphere of Seville in the evenings, the cathedrals, fortresses and palaces in Almeria, Malaga and Granada; the glitzy marina and waterfronts in Marbella and Puerto Banus, the pretty villages in the Sierra Nevada National Park and, of course, the sandy and action packed beaches from Fuengirola to Torremolinos.

Sunny all year round, the Canary Island of Fuerteventura is ideal for some winter sun and, in October, it is unlikely to rain. The island sees little rainfall and the landscape, whilst dramatic, is pretty barren. Nevertheless it has over 150 beaches comprising an excellent mix of sun bathing and swimming beaches, surfing beaches, beautiful lagoon beaches with shallow turquoise waters, remote and secluded bays, blue flag beaches, naturist beaches and, of course, the stunning sand dunes just outside of Corralejo. Fuerteventura comprises 4 main tourist resorts, all of which are well served with shops, bars, restaurants and weekly markets and, there are plenty of excursions, from exploring volcanic landscapes and hillside villages to off-road safaris and leisurely boat trips. Parts of the island are very popular for windsurfing and kiteboarding and, other popular sporting activities including scuba diving, fishing and cycling.

We have holidays to over 15 beach resorts on this stretch of coast, many of which are all just a short drive from Antalya airport. For a blend of modern nightlife and rich history, try the vibrant harbour towns of Antalya and Alanya or, the thriving beach resort of Side, which is also home to the Manavgat waterfall, the ancient Aspendos and Temple of Apollo. For families, there is a good choice of beach front hotels in Avsallar and, for golfers, the quaint and chic resort of Belek is surrounded by 5 golf courses. Rhodes in October does have a slightly increased chance of rain but there is still plenty of sunshine and the beaches are so much quieter. The popular resorts of Faliraki and Ialyssos run alongside long beaches and have a good choice of watersports and a vibrant nightlife scene. The pretty white-washed village of Lindos has a main beach and the sheltered St Pauls Bay. Located on the east coast, between Rhodes and Lindos and ideal for exploring, the traditional village of Afandou is home to the golf course and Kolymbia is ideal for a relaxing beach holiday. Rhodes Town is perfect to stroll around at your leisure, with its charming harbour and tavernas, the maze of narrow streets in the Old Town, the lively clubs and bars in Bar Street and of course a wealth of historic sights including the Palace of the Grand Master and the medieval walls and gates. Other historic sights include the Castle of Kritinia, the Lindos Acropolis, the hill of Monte Smith and the archaeological site of Kameiros. For natural scenery and lovely walking routes, explore the forests and rivers of the Seven Springs and the Valley of the Butterflies.

Mauritius is a tropical island and October is at the end of winter season when you will enjoy around 8 hours of sunshine per day, lower humidity and warm temperatures. If there is any rain it should be short-lived and is most likely to occur in central and south-eastern regions. Mauritius is surrounded by pristine white sand beaches, gorgeous lagoons and warm, clear seas and, it is a great place for scuba diving or deep sea fishing. The island is a popular honeymoon location and boasts many luxurious, resort style hotels complete with golf courses and tranquil Spas. For more than just a beach holiday, explore the capital of Port Louis, its vibrant markets, China Town and the waterfront; go hiking (or take a bus) through the Black River Gorges National Park or visit the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens at Pamplemousses.

Southern Cyprus in October is still warm enough for a beach holiday, with temperatures around 24 degrees and minimal rain. Despite having nearly 50 blue flag beaches, this welcoming island offers far more opportunities than lazing on the clean golden sands. Children will love the Aqua Park and Marine World in Ayia Napa, the big Watermania waterpark in Limassol, the Camel Park near Larnaca or the Zoo and Bird Park in Paphos. Boat trips abound from the marinas at Larnaca and Limassol and the harbour at Paphos, not to mention the wealth of historic sights that can be seen just about everywhere. There are 3 prestigious golf courses along the south coast, near Paphos, Limassol and Pissouri and other popular activities include snorkelling, diving, horse-riding and hiking; for which the Zenobia shipwreck near Larnaca and the scenic nature trails around the Troodos Mountains are top of the list.
October is the perfect time of year to go trekking in Nepal; it is the start of the dry season, has warm daytime temperatures for comfortable walking and clear skies to enjoy the best of the mountain views. Trekking is not just for the super fit and experienced mountaineers, although there are, of course, plenty of remote regions and high passes for those seeking a challenge. But if camping and back-packing aren't your style, there are also tours of Nepal which give you the opportunity to stay in hotels and still admire spectacular views of the Annapurna and Himalayan mountain ranges and, maybe take a safari in Chitwan National Park, visit the scenic Phewa Lake and town of Pokhara, the medieval city of Bhaktapur and the city sights of Kathmandu, such as the Buddha Stuppa, the beautiful Garden of Dreams and the spectacular palaces and temples around Durbar Square.
We think you’ll fall in love with Dubai in October. Why? Whisk them away for a Half Term holiday they’ll never forget. Prefer travelling with your partner or friends? There’s a bottomless brunch table with your names all over it.
