US Domestic Flights New Tax Rules
Posted by Sue Anderson, 28th Jan 2012
New rules come into place this week for domestic travel in the United States; airlines selling these flights must advertise their fares with all government taxes and fees included.
The rulings introduced by the US Department of Transportation (DoT) last year will take effect from the 26th January 2012, putting a stop to adverts showing fares without mandatory taxes and fees. Airlines must also clearly show applicable baggage fees when displaying a fare for a specific route.
Until now the US has had more lenient fare rules than the European Union, when Brussels enforced similar regulations back in 2008-09.
