Two Thirds of Britons in Favour of Thames Estuary Airport

You may or may not have heard of plans to build another airport in London, but the difference with this one is that it's going to be built on an artificial island made of landfill on the bank of the Thames.
We decided to find out what you thought about the proposed plans for 'Boris Island' as it has been nicknamed, so we surveyed 918 people and asked them questions surrounding the proposed Thames Estuary airport, which would become Britain's main international hub, handling 300,000 passengers a day; twice as many as London Heathrow.
'What are your feelings towards the plans for a new UK airport in the Thames Estuary?' According to the poll, 67% of those asked were 'in favour' of the plans, with 23% 'opposed' to the idea and the remaining 10% claiming to be 'undecided'.
Those who said they were 'in favour' of the new airport were asked to explain why this was the case, to which 28% felt it would provide 'cheaper flights'. More than half, 55%, said they liked the idea of having 'more choice' when it came to airports, whilst 9% said they thought it would 'benefit the UK'.
On the other hand, those who claimed to be opposed to the idea of 'Boris Island' were also asked to give their reasons why. Two fifths, 41%, felt the new airport would be an 'unnecessary' addition to the UK, whilst 36% said the plans were 'too expensive'.
All respondents were asked if they felt there were enough airports within close proximity to their home, to which the majority, 52%, felt there weren't.
A new airport certainly could put us on the map regarding international travel. Furthermore, having another airport opens up a whole new range of choice when it comes to destinations, so it's good to know that the majority are in favour of the proposed plans!
