Vale do Lobo is a large complex of hotels, villas and apartments. It is located on the coast and has access to many sandy beaches.

Vale do Lobo was created as a leisure resort and therefore there is no village or town but there are a variety of sports available including golf, tennis, sailing and riding, and a number of restaurants and bars. The transfer time is 30 minutes from Faro Airport.

Surrounded by reddish brown cliffs, the golden sandy beach here goes on for a good couple of kilometers and has been awarded the Blue Flag. Plenty of watersports are available here and there are sunshades, beach chairs and sun loungers for rent. There is a cafe and a restaurant on the beach which is ideal for a spot of lunch or a light snack. During the summer months there is a lifeguard on duty so you can fully relax in the knowledge that it is a safe beach.
Things to Do
The main attraction in Vale do Lobo has to be the two fantastic 18 hole golf courses, The Royal and the Ocean. The scenery is fantastic and one of the holes on The Royal even passes over cliffside ravines. Keeping with the sporting theme, there is also horse riding, tennis, public swimming pool, football facilities and a fully equipped fitness centre with a full range of exercise classes.
There is an auditorium in the resort that hosts many fantastic shows and performances such as ballet, opera, music gigs and even festivals so hopefully your visit will coincide with one of these events.
If you are looking for something for the kids to do, get them down to the Kangaroo Club which is down at the square. There is everything you need here to keep them occupied such as a supervised swimming pool, sand pit, bouncy castle and mini golf. You can also arrange babysitting at your accommodation.
Out and About
There are lots of restaurants here and you will find a whole range of cuisine such as Mediterranean, Italian, Indian and Chinese so you are bound to find something to your liking. There are also many beachside cafes and bars, many of which serve great tapas. There is not much in the way of nightlife here but there is plenty going on in Vilamoura and Faro which are not too far away.
There are plenty shops here for basic items and there are also some exclusive boutiques too. There are loads more shops, cafes and restaurants to be found in the shopping centre at Quinta da Lago which is just 3km away.
Nearby Attractions
If you fancy a day out, take a trip to Faro, it's only half an hour away. There is lots to see here, such as the Praca de Dom Francisco Gomes and the Moorish Old Town or you could simply wander round the shops and markets to see what is on offer. Faro is also home to the dance world cup where the streets come alive with many colorful dancers.
Ten minutes from Vale do Lobo is the village of Sao Lourenco and its little 18th century church. The church is in true Portuguese style with blue and white azulejo tiles and is very pretty and well worth a look. Another 10 minutes away is Loule which still has remains of the old castle. Loule also hosts a 4 day music festival with various music acts from Greece, Morocco, Turkey, Cyprus, Portugal and Spain.
Zoo Marine in Guia is a very popular choice for families with children and is the highlight of many a holiday. Visitors will be able to see dolphins, sea lions, seals, tropical birds and various birds of prey. There is also an aquarium with exotic fish and sharks and there is a 4D cinema too so there is plenty to keep everyone occupied.
