If you're looking for some R and R in a peaceful Turkish resort or a family holiday to remember, this is where it's at.
Dalaman Airport is 20km away, around 30 mins transfer time.
Beaches
The beautiful Sarigerme Beach stretches along the coastline for a good 7km which means there is plenty of room for sunbathing. Although the start of the beach is a good 15 minute walk from the centre of the resort, there is a road train that runs from the village car park.
The beach is in a National Park Conservation area so you will have to pay a small fee to enter the beach and make use of the facilities it offers such as toilets and showers. There are sun loungers for rent, a variety of watersports available and there are cafes which is perfect for drinks and light snacks.
Things to Do
There is not a great deal to do in Sarigerme itself, many people just enjoying wandering round the shops or lounging about and enjoying the All Inclusive facilities at the larger hotels. The main attraction here is the beach and lots of people are happy just spending the day relaxing on the beach.
There is a dive centre in Sarigerme which is ideal for beginners as well as the more experienced diver.
Out and About
There is a good selection of shops which sell a variety of goods such as gold and leather goods then there is the weekly market on Sundays which sell lots of fake designer gear so plenty of options for those who enjoy shopping.
There are certainly a few cafes and restaurants to suit a variety of tastes and budgets and you will be able to get anything from fast food and English breakfasts to traditional Turkish cuisine.
The pace of life in Sarigerme is very slow and laid back and that is the same as far as nightlife is concerned. There are a few bars but if you want anything more lively you really need to venture into Marmaris or Olu Deniz.
Nearby Attractions
Take a trip to Butterfly Valley which is a wonderful sight. The large valley is surrounded by vertical rock and has a great variety of plants such as elm trees, eucalyptus, jasmine, mint and thyme as well as many different species of moth and butterfly. If you manage to climb to the top of the valley, you can grab a snack at the small restaurant that sits at the top.
There is the famous mud baths of Dalyan which are about half an hours drive from Ovacik. Here you can wallow in the mud then wash it off in one of the hot springs. Not only is this very relaxing but it is also great for cleansing the skin and you do feel great after it.
Iztuzu Beach near Dalyan is where the Caretta Caretta turtles lay their eggs
Jeep safaris are also a popular and unforgettable day out. Explore the rock tombs, mountains, rivers and wildlife and take in the fantastic scenery at the same time.
