One of the best ways to explore the olive groves, pine forests and rugged mountains is to hire a bike and enjoy the many paths and trails that will take you through the traditional fishing villages and past the medieval monasteries and ancient Greek ruins.
There are many historical sights throughout the island with many of them being in Limenas (Thassos Town). Take a trip to the amphitheatre then follow the ruined city walls up to the ancient acropolis or visit the archaeological museum. There are some great beaches in Limenas and plenty of facilities which can make it quite lively, especially in the summer months.
