The small Spanish town of Sitges is bursting with life with tons to see and do. While the beaches are the main attraction, you must take the time to wander round the town and take a look at the numerous whitewashed buildings, many of which have an interesting background. Sitges is also the perfect one day excursion from Barcelona.

With no less than 17 beaches to choose from, you are bound to find a suitable beach to spend a sunny day in Sitges. During the summer months, the beaches can get quite crowded with both tourists and locals, especially at the weekend. A range of water sports such as windsurfing, diving, jet skiing and water skiing can be found at many of the beaches, with some even having live music so there is plenty of options to choose from.

Things to Do
The charming old town is a great place to wander and visit the many historic attractions, such as the 17th century church and the museums where you can view several pieces by Picasso and El Greco.
As well as the many watersports on offer in Sitges, the more daring can also try their hand at skydiving, hot air ballooning and hang gliding. Quad biking, mountain biking and horse riding are other popular activities available here.
There are plenty of shops in the resort so if you are looking for something special to take home or just want to treat yourself, you will find plenty of opportunities here.
Out and About
As a seaside town, many of the restaurants specialize in seafood but there is a good variety of restaurants so if you fancy something other than seafood then I'm sure you will find it no problem. There are plenty of open air cafes which are ideal for a relaxing drink together with a little people watching.
For a relatively small resort, there is no shortage of bars and clubs to suit all. There are several streets that are full of bars and clubs so you are sure to find something to your liking.
There are plenty of opportunities for shopping in Sitges, from the typical tourist shop to lovely clothes shops but please remember that many of the shops close in the afternoon but stay open later in the evening.
Nearby Attractions
Although there is plenty to do in the resort of Sitges, there is so much going on in the area and it is worthwhile venturing out the resort to see what's going on.
Lots of people enjoy hiking or mountain biking in the nearby El Garraf natural park or there is wine tasting sessions at the Penedes vineyards. There are also many golf courses in the surrounding area so if you like to get out and about and enjoy the great outdoors, there will be plenty of options.
Port Aventura Theme Park is a great option for the whole family, with many rides, attractions and restaurants for all ages, it really is a must. There is also a water park here too.
A trip to Barcelona will not disappoint, there are museums, cathedrals, some fantastic work from the famous Gaudi and shopping galore. You could also take a tour of Barcelona's football stadium or visit the zoo, the choice is endless.
