Beaches

The beaches of the Samana area are stunning and the main reason that travellers visit this part of the Dominican Republic and Samana Town is the ideal base for exploring this region. Playa Rincon is on northern part of the peninsula and is listed in the Top 10 of Conde Nast Travellers Magazine best beaches. In addition there is Playa Bonita which is perfect for surfers and divers. Just off the southern shore is the small island of Cayo Levantado which has powdery white sands, turquoise seas and swaying palms and during January to March humpback whales pass the shores.
