Puerto Andratx is an exclusive resort around 35km from Palma Airport, it features an impressive marina lined with luxury yachts and many upmarket bars and restaurants.
The beach
There is a very small beach to the west of the harbour, it's just 60-metres long and 25-metres wide consisting of sand and stones. The nearest sandy beach is 3km away in Camp de Mar.
Things to do
For a taste of real Majorca visit the traditional town of Andratx with its winding and cobbled streets just 3km inland. The town was originally built to act as a defence against pirate attacks with evidence of its old walls still visible, it has some great restaurants and bars, and is also home to a large weekly market.
The Dragonera Island nature reserve is just a short ferry ride from Puerto Andratx, there are several recommended walks with something suitable for all levels of walkers including a three hour return hike to the top of Puig de Far Vell.
Golfers will be pleased to know that the south west area of Majorca has six championship standard golf courses including the impressive Golf de Andratx course which can be found at neighbouring resort of Camp de Mar.
Out and about
Puerto Andratx offers some great restaurants around the marina area often serving the catch of the day; you might find prices slightly higher here than other local resorts particularly along the waterfront. There is also a promenade lined with shops, restaurants and bars, so there are plenty of options for dining and relaxing.
Nearby attractions
If you have access to a car there a plenty of nearby attractions offering entertainment for all ages, the lively resort of Magaluf is around 14km away and offers a number of fun attractions including popular evening shows, a waterpark, go-karting and a fun-house. Its neighbour Palma Nova is home to Golf Fantasia a unique and very enjoyable crazy golf course. A little further along the coast in Portal Nous is Marineland, a popular attraction for families with young children, the park features an aquarium with rays and sharks, and the shows includes performing sea lions, parrots and dolphins.
Full of historical sites and museums Palma makes an ideal day excursion; visit the Gothic sights of La Seu Cathedral and Basilica de Sant Francesc, Palace de L'Almudaina found next to the cathedral and Castell de Bellver the only circular castle in Spain.
