Porto Petro provides a relaxed atmosphere, with quiet evenings spent in one the few bars or restaurants around the port. Palma Airport is around 60km from the resort.

There are two beaches close to the resort of Porto Petro; the first is Calo dels Homes Morts a mix of sand and rocky bathing platforms found in a peaceful cove, at just 35-metres in length and 25-metres wide it's a small beach with little in the way of facilities. The second beach Calo de sa Torre is rocky and even smaller at just 30-metres in length and only 8-metres wide.
The nearest sandy beach is Cala Barca, around 3 km south of Porto Petro, this lovely stretch of sand is just 35-metres by 25-metres and can get crowded in the summer months. Sun-beds and parasols are available to hire here, along with a beach bar.
Out and about
There is a mini-train which runs from Porto Petro to the nature park of Mondrago it's just a few kilometres to the south of the resort and covers 2000 acres of wetland and forests; it makes a great place for hiking and trekking or simply bathing on its two pristine beaches.
For golfers the nearest golf course is Vall d'Or just a 15 minute drive away. The golf club also has a pool, driving range, paddle courts and a restaurant.
There are a number of glass bottomed boat trips to take along the east coast, visiting remote beaches and other resorts such as Porto Cristo and Sa Coma. Land excursions include trips to the town of Manacor, famed for its artificial pearls; or the town of Felanitx, worth visiting on a Sunday morning just to experience the market which is widely recognised as being one of the best on the island.
The Exotic Parque Los Pajaros is found just outside the resort, it features a children's zoo, flamingos and a garden with a variety of cactus. Alternatively the Tropical Park Jumaica, situated on the road from Porto Cristo to Porto Colom, is a lush tropical garden with rare plants and free flying exotic birds.
Porto Cristo is home to the popular tourist attraction Caves of Drach, the caves feature many caverns with beautifully formed stalactites and stalagmites, as well as a large subterranean lake where classical music recitals are performed daily.
