Beaches
Playa de los Pocillos sits behind a sandy beach, snugly nestled between the quiet beach resort of Matagorda and the large and lively resort of Puerto del Carmen.
The beach is very wide at Playa de los Pocillos with plenty of room for a game of volleyball. All three resorts are linked by a coastal path and promenade, placing you in easy reach of a huge variety of atmospheres and activities.
Things to Do
Immediately behind the resort, (approx 1km from the beach), the Rancho Texas Park promises a great day out. The Park has themed areas to please all ages including a wildlife park, a children's farm and landscaped gardens; a splash park, swimming pool and adult only chill-out zone. Throughout the day you can watch the displays featuring sea lions, parrots and birds of prey as well as the lasso show. Other activities include canoeing, pony-rides and searching for gold at the 'gold mine'. In the evening the Western nights and the Spanish nights promise a great night out with plenty of food and entertainment.
Out and About
Midway along Playa de los Pocillos beach, at the Plaza de las Naciones, there is a children's playground, relaxed seating areas and a nice open space where you can take your hired roller-blades or segway for a spin. The Plaza is often used for roller hockey and slaloms and is also the venue for the Lanzarote Oktoberfest.
For shops, bars and restaurants you have the Los Pocillos centre at the eastern end of the beach and, at the western end (behind the Las Costas Hotel), creeping into Puerto del Carmen, is the Costa Luz centre. For livelier nightlife continue along to the main strip in Puerto del Carmen.
Nearby Attractions
Lanzarote Golf (4km) and the harbour at Puerto del Carmen (4km) are in easy reach for a round of golf, fishing trips and coastal cruises.
The peaceful inland town of Tias is just 6km away and will give you an insight to authentic daily island life for Canarians as well as an increasing number of ex-pats.
