Patalavaca is a fairly laidback resort, located alongside a long flat sandy beach which is usually better for surfing than swimming and is backed by cafes. Patalavaca beach and coastal road runs between the traditional working town and harbour of Arguineguin to the south and, in the other direction, the sheltered beach and sports marina at Anfi Del Mar.
Things to Do
Ferries run between Arguineguin and Anfi del Mar as well as to the marinas in Puerto Rico, Puerto Mogan and Las Meloneras, making it easy to explore the south western coast and to take advantage of a wide range of water-sports and deep sea fishing opportunities.
Patalavaca is also well placed for golfers as there are four 18 hole golf courses within a 15 minute drive; namely Salobre Golf (8km), AnfiTauro Golf (12km), Meloneras Golf (10km) and Maspalomas Golf (15km). Rising up behind the resort, the Barranco de Arguineguin provides a scenic location for hiking and climbing.
Out and About
The resort has ample supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants. For wider variety, livelier nightlife can be found in Puerto Rico (3km). There is large and busy street market held in Arguineguin on Tuesdays and there is another market at Puerto de Mogan harbour on Fridays.
Nearby Attractions
Popular visitor attractions include the Maspalomas water park, Aqualand (15km) and the zoo and gardens at Palmitos Park (19km).
