The purpose built luxury resort of Palm Groves is all about leisure and relaxation. The resort lies slightly north of Marrakech and approx 3 hours drive from the wide sandy beaches of Essaouira.
Things to Do
Set in acres of palm groves filled with thousands and thousands of palm trees, a traditional way to explore the region of La Palmeraie is by camel and tours are available daily, all year round.
Play golf. The Palmeraie Golf Club, the Amelkis Golf Club and the Marrakesh Royal Golf Club are all par 72, 18 hole courses.
Relax at the Spa. The Spa at the Palmeraie Golf Palace offers a tranquil and sophisticated haven; Marrakech Ryad Parc is warm and inviting; the Hammam and Spa at Les Deux Tour is devoted to Oriental rituals and traditions and; the Terre Resort specialises in Balinese massages and the traditional Moroccan Hammam.
Out and About
Most leisure activities are hotel based and the resort is predominantly made up of 4 and 5 star hotels set in park style gardens with good sports and leisure facilities. Large swimming pools, tennis courts, sports facilities and fitness gyms are all but standard. Many of the hotels also have a luxurious spa and/or traditional hammams.
Nearby Attractions
The ancient city of Marrakech is just a short drive away and here you can explore the boutiques and traditional shops that line the narrow network of alleyways in the Medina; sample the lively nightlife or spend an evening at the Jemaa El Fna night market and watch the street performers. There are also a number of historical sites at Marrakech including the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace, the El Badi Palace and the Saadian Tombs.
Between Palm Groves and Marrakech, the modern district of Gueliz is far more westernised than the old quarter. Here you will find upmarket coffee shops, international fast food chains, designer boutiques and high street names.
For a family friendly day out, the Oasiria Water Park is open all year round with attractions for both adults and children.
