Oropesa del Mar can be found approx 103km from Valencia Airport, just over an hour coach transfer.
Beaches
The resort offers several beaches with beautiful white sand and calm waters, perfect for a variety of water sports. A couple of the beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag in recognition of the clean waters and fantastic services.
There are also plenty of coves here, so if you enjoy an afternoons sunbathing or prefer to take part in the many water sports on offer, you will find it here in Oropesa del Mar.
Things to Do
If historic buildings are your thing, then you will not be disappointed. Have a wander round the resort and you will stumble across the old castle which is a historic landmark, Rey Tower, Sant Julia Tower and the tower of La Dona. Wander round the narrow, steep streets of the Old Town Villa and check out the many antique shops.
There are many festivals throughout the year which are enjoyed by both locals and visitors of all ages and celebrate many things such as music of all different types, local food and folklore.
The resort offers a whole host of activities for children, from various puppet shows and festivals throughout the year, outdoor cinemas on the beaches and family entertainment during the summer months in the old quarter.
Oropesa del Mar is home to one of the most picturesque sea ports on the Mediterranean coast and boasts the largest seawater spa in Europe which really is worth a visit.
Out and About
There are well over 100 cafes and restaurants spread throughout the resort, many of which offering seafood dishes from freshly caught fish. There are also many bars/nightclubs if you feel like a few drinks after dinner.
Oropesa del Mar is a great place for those who love the outdoors as there is so much to do, including trekking, golfing, various water sports and many festivals that take place throughout the year.
Nearby Attractions
For a family day out, why not visit the water park at Benicassim, it is great fun for all the family and a great way to cool down.
The ancient fortress town of Peniscola is approx 40 mins drive away and is home to a beautiful castle, great beaches and a good selection of tourist shops, bars and restaurants.
If you wanted to venture a little further a field, you could visit Salou which is home to the fantastic Port Aventura Theme Park and is a great day out for everyone, well worth the 1 hr and 30 min drive.
