Orihuela Costa, Costa Blanca, Spain
The Orihuela Costa is made up of several resorts which stretch along 16km of coastline covering beautiful sandy beaches, rocky cliffs and coves. The city of Orihuela is around 20km inland.
Orihuela Costa
The Orihuela Costa is situated just south of Torrevieja, starting at Punta Prima and ending at Mil Palmeras; there's a stunning coastal path covering the resorts of Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia and Campoamor.

The city of Orihuela is actually 20km inland, offering a real Spanish atmosphere its centre is packed with historic buildings, as well as a good array of shops, bars, restaurants and a weekly market. The train station provides easy access into Alicante and Elche in the north, and to Murcia in the south.
Orihuela Costa Resorts
Punta Prima: This is the closest resort along the Orihuela Costa to the popular holiday hotspot of Torrevieja. The Punta Prima beach is renowned for its fine, white sand and is within easy walking distance of the resort amenities. There are a good selection of bars, shops and restaurants here, along with a Go-Kart track.
Playa Flamenca: There are three beaches in the area of Playa Flamenca; Cala Penas, Cala Mosca and Cala Estaca backed by the promenade taking you all the way to Cabo Roig in the south or neighbouring resort of Punta Prima. Shops, bars and restaurants can be found in the Flamenca Commercial Centre, with many offering a variety of evening entertainment. There's a weekly market here every Saturday, with fresh locally grown produce, clothes, bags and sweets.
La Zenia: Situated between Playa Flamenca and Cabo Roig, La Zenia has two well maintained beaches, Cala Bosque and Cala Cerrada. The resort has a good range of shops, bars and restaurants along with a new shopping complex found on the edge of the resort close to the motorway junction.
Cabo Roig: Renowned for its fine sandy beaches, Cala Caleta and Cala Capitan are both extremely popular, clean and well maintained. The 'Strip' found on either side of the main road is lined with bars, cafes and restaurants which offer day and night time entertainment ranging from life music to bingo and quizzes to karaoke. There's also a small picturesque marina where you'll find a cafe and a sailing school.
Campoamor: Campoamar has three main beaches; Cala de Campoamor, Playa de Campoamor and Caleta de la Glea, all of which are clean and well maintained. Campoamor is a quiet resort within easy reach of all the bars, restaurants and shops on the Cabo Roig strip. There is a small marina and a golf course just 5-minute drive inland.
Mil Palmeras: The most southerly resort, Mil Palmeras has a beach of fine white sand along with a number of rocky coves and bays. At its centre is a small village square leading off into 'restaurant alley' lined with restaurants offering a variety of cuisines.
Things to do
Famous for its location within the largest Palm grove in Europe, the historical city of Elche is around 40km from the Orihuela Costa, and makes for an interesting day out with a number of monumental buildings and several large palm parks worth a visit.
The Rio Safari Park is just 9km outside of Elche, highlights include the reptile cave, crocodile farm and chimpanzee island. There are also shows, trampolines, a kart circuit and during the summer months a pool with slide.
Just a 10 minute drive away, at neighbouring resort of Torrevieja there's plenty to keep all entertained, with two waterparks, a marina, waterfront market, street entertainment, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
Three championship golf courses are within a 10-minute drive of the resort; the Villamartin course, Campoamor course and Las Ramblas. For a slightly longer drive of 30-minutes you can choose from a further eight courses, including the world famous La Manga and La Finca courses.
