Mismaloya is a tiny town with a few big hotels. The beach at Mismaloya is situated in a cove, with a view of Los Arcos sea rocks, a great place to snorkel and scuba dive. The place to be for a quiet and peaceful holiday.

Located within a small bay, Mismaloya beach is a great place for swimming as there is no strong tide or undertow. The beach can get quite busy with guests from the hotels right next to it. It is possible to hire boats to go fishing and it is possible to go jet skiing and parasailing. There are a few little restaurants on the beach which is ideal if you are looking for a little refreshment.
The Richard Burton film 'Night of the Iguana' was filmed here and the remains of the original movie set are still here, although not accessible.
Things to Do
Glide over forests, jungles and waterfalls at the El Eden Canopy Zipline tour then relax in one of the natural pools in the Mismaloya river.
It is also possible to take a river taxi to one of the more remote locations or to go on a snorkeling or fishing trip.
The Barcelo Puerto Vallarta Hotel offers day passes so guests can enjoy the many facilities and entertainment.
Out and About
There are several restaurants situated on the beach, all of which serve many Mexican dishes and of course, freshly caught seafood. Some of the restaurants even provide a beach service so it is possible to enjoy a drink on the beach.
There are a few trinket peddlers down at the beach but nothing more than that so don't expect to get much shopping done here.
Nearby Attractions
Puerto Vallarta is approx 15 minutes from Mismaloya and has so much to offer, you could visit the Botanical Gardens or take a trip to the zoo where you will be encouraged to have direct contact with the animals, you may even be kissed by a giraffe.
For those who are interested in snorkeling, you may want to visit Los Arcos National Marine Park. The park is a protected area which means that there is tons of tropical marine life to enjoy.
The Tequila factory may also be of interest, you can get a tour of the factory then get to sample some of the Tequila.
Although Mismaloya is generally quite quiet, there is plenty to do in the surrounding area.
