Gerakini, Halkidiki, Greece
Gerakini is a small village which runs alongside a narrow sandy beach and is surrounded by olive groves and countryside. A peaceful location from which to explore the Cholomondos mountains or relax on the long sandy beaches.

This small and rural beach resort is located on the Haldikiki peninsula, between the western 'fingers' of Kassandra and Sithonia. The resort has a handful of small supermarkets and a variety of places to eat including fast food and traditional tavernas.

The long and narrow sandy beach at Gerakini is just one of a string of beaches which run around the Kassandra Gulf. Loungers and parasols are available to hire and available water sports include scuba diving, water skiing and windsurfing.
Nearby Attractions
The town of Polygyros is scenically located approx 15 minutes drive away on the mountainside and offers a taste of daily local life, a couple of museums and Greek high street shops. Also approx 15 minutes drive inland is the 7th century town of Olynthos where you can explore the archeological ruins, best known for the well preserved floor mosaics.
If you prefer the beach resorts, neighbouring Psakoudia is blessed with a 4km long, wide sandy beach and is less than 10 minutes drive away. Or, why not take a boat trip around the Athos peninsula and see the impressive monasteries tucked into the sides of Mount Athos.
