Clearwater Beach is situated just 20 miles west of Tampa International Airport. It has a great all year round climate, pristine beaches, tasty restaurants and plenty of things to do. Beaches
Clearwater's beaches rate among the best in the state of Florida, the sugary white sands stretch for several miles with plenty of room for everyone. The southern end of the beach is backed by a winding beachside promenade, there are good facilities available with watersports, shops and cafes.
Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach is a popular spot in the evenings, a nightly family friendly event which sees artisans and crafters selling their work, street performers, live music, shopping, entertainment, dining and a beautiful sunset.
Across Clearwater Pass is the 65 acre Sand Key Park, located on Sand Key, a barrier island between the Gulf of Mexico and the Florida mainland. The park has two distinct areas, a beach with beach showers and toilets, and a park with picnic shelters, a playground and a dog park.
Things to Do
Clearwater Marine Aquarium is not your typical aquarium, this is a working hospital dedicated to the rescue, rehab and release of marine animals. Here you can take a behind-the-scenes tour, get up close with animals, feed stingrays, sharks and pelicans, and cruise on an interactive boat safari.
While close by in Tampa, the Florida Aquarium offers all the classic facilities of an aquarium. There's plenty to keep all members of the family entertained with the opportunity to dive with sharks, swim with fishes and come face to face with a penguin. There's also a kids splash park and wild dolphin cruises available.
There are plenty of adventure and theme parks around the Clearwater area; Busch Gardens in Tampa is the ultimate family adventure park, featuring a combination of thrilling rides, exotic and endangered animals, and live entertainment; Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo has over 1000 animals on 56 acres of natural outdoor habitats; also in Tampa is the Adventure Island Aquapark, featuring all the usual fun water-slides and pools; and for the wannabe Paleontologists, Dinosaur World is a must, found 30km outside of Tampa this 20-acre outdoor dinosaur museum is ideal for children, with over 200 life size dinosaurs, a fossil dig and interactive shows.
Out and About
Clearwater offers a wide variety of restaurants and bars, with casual and fine dining, lounge bars and clubs readily available throughout the resort. In downtown Clearwater's Cleveland Street District is a pedestrian friendly shopping area filled with boutiques, stores and restaurants. For a more traditional shopping centre head inland to the Westfield Countryside Mall which has over 150 stores including well known department stores, a 12 screen movie theatre and even an ice-skating rink.
Getting around Clearwater by Jolley Trolley is ideal for visitors to the area, providing a friendly and efficient service which covers Downtown Clearwater, north Clearwater Beach, south Clearwater beach and beyond to Sand Key.

Legoland and it's Waterpark are around 120 km from Clearwater Beach, around 90 minutes drive, ideal for fun filled days away from the beach. Legoland has more than 50 rides, shows and attractions, plenty of dining options, shops and a botanical garden. The Legoland Waterpark has a wave pool, water slides, lazy river and a kids splash pool.
The attractions of Orlando such as Disney and Universal Studios are just under 2 hours drive away.
