Bohinj is divided into the Upper and Lower Valley, where there are around 24 villages varying in size. The administrative centre is Bohinjska Bistrica home to the Tomaz Godec Museum with its well-preserved leather workshop and collections from World War I and II.
At the heart of the valley is Lake Bohinj, where the church of St John (Sveti Janez) can be found on its eastern side beside the village of Ribcev Laz, and the Savica Waterfall by Ukanc village on the western side, walking around the lake takes around 3 hours.
