Blanes boasts over 4km of coastline with many beaches and inlets for visitors to enjoy. Most beaches are to Blue Flag standard and offer clean sand and calm waters suitable for swimming, however many become very deep a few feet from the shoreline so may not be suitable for those with young children. A family friendly beach can be found at the new extension to Platja Blanes - here the beach slopes more gently into the water. Lifeguards are on duty at the main beaches during the summer months. Showers, toilets and refreshments are also widely available on the main beaches.
Things to do
There's plenty to see and do in and around Blanes. The Botanical Gardens are a favourite with tourists and offer extensive range of colourful flowers. A variety of watersports are available on the beach plus boat tours and excursions.
Out and about
There is a wide choice of dining options within the resort, including several fine fish and seafood restaurants as well as restaurants offering local and international cuisine catering for all budgets and tastes. There is also a selection of bars and cafes. The resort has a fairly low key nightlife although there are a couple of nightclubs.
Nearby places of interest
Nearby there is one of Europe's biggest water parks, Waterworld which offers a great family day out with plenty of fun and splashing around. A short drive from Blanes is the town of Figueres which is home to the Salavador Dali Museum, the museum houses an extensive collection of the Spanish artists collections of sculptures and art from his early years through to his last years.
