Belo Horizonte is home to the huge Mineirao Soccer Stadium and approx 40km from the International Airport. The city offers something for everyone, from a stroll round the lagoon in Municipal Park to shopping at the traditional Mercado Central and Sunday Fair; from high tempo nightlife to cultural shows and performances and contemporary Brazilian architecture, including works of Oscar Niemeyer.

Belo Horizonte is a busy and well developed city surrounded by mountains and forests. The famous beaches surrounding Rio de Janeiro are approx 5 hours drive south.
Things to Do
Cultural attractions within the city include the Palace of Artes, the Gruta de Maquine caves and the Museum of Arts and Crafts which is housed in the historical train station buildings at Station Square.
Leisure attractions surround the Pampulha Lagoon including walking and cycling trails, the Zoo, the Burle Max Gardens, the Aquarium of Rio Sao Francisco and the Ecological Park. This district also contains a number of modern buildings designed by the notable architect Oscar Neimeyer, including the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi and the Minaeiro Soccer Stadium.
Out and About
The Municipal Park in the centre of the city provides welcome tranquility, greenery and lakes and the Mercado Central is a great place to discover the local community.
At the weekend, the Park is bordered by a hive of activity for the street markets; the Feira Tom Jobin on Saturdays and the lively Arts and Crafts market on Sundays.

Day trips outside of the city could include the art galleries and gardens of the Inhotim Contemporary Art Centre, the caves of Gruta Rei do Mato and the hiking trails of the Serra do Cipo National Park.
