Narrow dark sand beaches line the two horseshoe bays in front of the town and there is a further beach behind the harbour.
Newer developments have spread northwards along the seafront, passing the fine sands of Patalavaca Beach all the way to the bay at La Verga. Here you will find the Anfi group of hotels, a shopping centre and a sweeping beach of golden sand, separated from the Anfi del Mar Marina by the lush gardens of Anfi Island.
Things to Do
A ferry service operates between the Arguineguin Harbour and the Anfi del Marina and also runs into the nearby resorts of Puerto Mogan and Puerto Rico. There are also opportunities for glass bottom boat trips, whale-spotting cruises, deep sea fishing and water-sports including diving and scuba diving.
Family friendly days out include the trips to the Aqualand Maspalomas waterpark (16km), the zoo and gardens at Palmitos Park (20km) and the wild west theme park, Sioux City (25km).
Out and About
Around the harbour area, Arguineguin retains the feel of a traditional Spanish fishing town with everyday local shops as well as bars, pavement cafes and restaurants with fresh fish and international dishes on the menu.
Behind the harbour there is a large street market, which takes place on Tuesdays.
