Tivat

Tivat, Montenegro

Tivat is a coastal town in the Bay of Kotor, in an area with outstanding natural beauty it offers picturesque views and excellent local hospitality.

Things to do

The town of Tivat provides a great base for exploring this area of Montenegro, set along the seafront there is a pebbly beach here and along its coast are a number of beaches, coves and harbours to be found. One of the major attractions of Tivat is the Gallery in the Buca summer house with surrounding beautiful park area which has an open-air theatre.

The Prevlaka Island also known as the Flower Island is just 300m long and is home to the Monastery of St. Archangel Michail (restoration in progress). Located close to the town of Tivat, the island is actually connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land which disappears in high tide.

Sveti Marko's Island (Stradioti) was once a popular holiday resort prior to 1991, now the island is deserted with dense vegetation and rich greenery, access is available by a water taxi from Tivat harbour. Visit soon as a luxury hotel chain is planning to develop a deluxe hotel and spa (2014).
