Paleokastritsa
This beautiful and lively village is surrounded by pine trees and set in a clover shaped bay. A 12th Century monastery looks down on the village from the steep hillside and the half a dozen little beaches dotted around the bay. The monastery is definitely worth a visit for the views alone. Visitors can enjoy the many tavernas, shops and small bars which are spread around the village and there is a little port just a five minute walk away.
The resort is hilly and due to the terrain may not be ideal for anyone with walking difficulties.
Beaches
There are six small enclosed bays around Paleokastritsa and the main one is Agios Spyridon where there is a sandy beach with sun loungers and parasols to rent. Water taxis are available for those wishing to visit the nearby secluded beaches. The beaches are lined with beautiful scenery and caves and the famous Paleokastritsa Caves make a good excursion.
Nearby Attractions
There are many hillside walks to enjoy as well as a visit to the Theotokos monastery which looks down on the village. For those seeking more action Corfu Town is only a 30 minute drive away and can be reached by taxi or public bus. Corfu Town offers a wealth of shops, bars and restaurants as well as historical sights, churches and museums.
