The village has retained its quaint traditions (one being the donkey taxis). Mijas is perched high above Fuengirola and Mijas Costa with spectacular views of the coast. The transfer time from Malaga airport is 30 minutes.

Situated inland, Mijas is approx 15 minutes from the coast. The beaches of Fuengirola offers long stretches of sand with sunbeds for hire, showers and life guards on duty in the summer months. Water sports are available near the marina including sailing, jet skiing and windsurfing. Beach bars, cafes and restaurants are situated nearby for refreshments.
Things to do
The stunning scenery and surrounding area make Mijas a popular choice for walkers and hikers. Just behind the town there are many trails to explore up into the hills and mountain. Mijas Park features botanical gardens, church and spectacular viewing points over the surrounding area.
For those who don't wish to trek all the way to the coast to cool off there is a municipal outdoor swimming pool which is open until 9pm in the summer months. In addition to the swimming pool the complex has a bar for refreshments.
Out and about
There is a good selection of dining choices in Mijas - many restaurants and cafes serving traditional Spanish cuisines prepared with fresh local produce. The nightlife has a laid back atmosphere - there are plenty of bars to enjoy a relaxing evening. For a greater variety of bars and restaurants and choice of lively clubs head down to Fuengirola.

Head down to the coast to one of the nearby resorts for lots of family fun and entertainment. Water parks, zoo, theme parks and a diverse range of entertainment venues await you.
