The small resort of Gouvia has become one of the most popular destinations on the island and is one of the more upmarket resorts on the island. The resort is quite quiet during the day and due to the good selection of bars and restaurants it can become quite lively at night.

The upmarket marina is full of large and beautiful yachts and the waterside cafes and restaurants are perfect for enjoying a meal or drink and just watching the world go by.

There are several beaches which are made up of shingle, pebble and sand. The middle section of the beach is best for swimmers as the beach shelves gently into the sea. Either side of this section is a good choice of watersports including motorised watersports.

Corfu Town is only 8km away which is worth a visit both during the day and at night and is easily reached by bus or taxi. Here there is an Old Town with cobbled streets housing shops, bars and restaurants and visitors can also wander around the churches and museums. The Ipapanti Church which is found in the village of Komeno, about a 15 minute walk away, is worth visiting also.
