Elounda, Crete, Greece
Elounda is a typical Greek resort which maintains much of its original charm and quickly becoming an up and coming resort for chic retreats. As well as a variety of cafes and bars situated along the harbour, there are many luxury yachts coming and going. Elounda is the ideal all-round resort with plenty to do for those that want it and a relaxed atmosphere for those that want a more peaceful holiday.

Elounda revolves around its pretty harbour and the main square where there are plenty of tavernas and bars where visitors can sit and watch the world go by. The narrow streets are full of gift shops and tavernas offering a traditional Greek feel. Although there are many friendly bars visitors will be disappointed if they are looking for a vibrant nightlife.

Elounda's main beach is just to the north of the harbour and it offers 200 metres of golden sand. Additionally there is the quieter Driros Beach and both beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag of cleanliness. Many of the larger hotels have their own private beaches with extensive watersports.
Nearby Attractions
From Elouda Beach you can see the haunting Spinalonga Island, an old leper colony, and day trips out to the island can be taken from the harbour. For those wishing to explore further afield, it is approximately 10 km from Aghios Nikolaos or the ruins of the ancient Minoan Palace of Malia can be found around a 30 minute drive away.
