Cala d'Or
Cala d'Or offers something for everyone from its traditional harbour, where you can sit at one of the main restaurants and watch the world go by, to its commercial centre offering everything from pizzerias to Chinese restaurants. The resort is spread out across 4 km and offers many sandy coves. Transfer time from the airport is 1 hour 30 minutes.

The beach
Cala d'Or has five small sandy coves, the largest of which is Cala Gran at just 40-metres in width and 100-metres deep it is by no means a large beach. The other beaches in the resort are Cala d'Or, Cala Esmeralda, Cala Ferrera and Cala Serena.
All of the resorts' beaches offer fine sand and clear water, though due to their size can get very crowded in the summer months. Facilities are good at all of the beaches with plenty of options available for refreshments found close by.
Things to do
Watersports are a popular activity in Cala d'Or, with scuba-diving, sailing and windsurfing all the rage. Remaining on the water you can enjoy a boat trip from the marina along the coast; the glass bottomed boat allows you to enjoy the scenery both above and below the waves.
The Natural Park Mondrago is just 5-kilometres to the south of the resort and a great place for hiking and trekking, or simply bathing on its two pristine beaches.
Out and about
Cala d'Or is a large resort separated from its neighbour Cala Egos by a large marina. There are two mini-train routes available, one that runs between Cala d'Or and Cala Egos, and the other from Cala d'Or to Cala Esmerelda.
The resort offers a good variety of shops, bars and restaurants, with many found around the marina and the pedestrianised centre. Much of the evening entertainment in Cala d'Or is found in the hotels, though there are several lively bars and a couple of discos in the pedestrian zone.
Nearby attractions
There are a number of glass bottomed boat trips to take along the east coast, visiting remote beaches and other resorts such as Porto Cristo and Sa Coma. Land excursions include trips to the town of Manacor, famed for its artificial pearls; or the town of Felanitx, worth visiting on a Sunday morning just to experience the market which is widely recognised as being one of the best on the island.
The Exotic Parque Los Pajaros is found just outside the resort, it features a children's zoo, flamingos and a garden with a variety of cactus. Alternatively the Tropical Park Jumaica, situated on the road from Porto Cristo to Porto Colom, is a lush tropical garden with rare plants and free flying exotic birds.
For golfers the nearest golf course is Vall d'Or just a 10-15 minute drive away. The golf club also has a pool, driving range, paddle courts and a restaurant.
20-kilometres away in Porto Cristo are the popular Caves of Drach, the caves feature many caverns with beautifully formed stalactites and stalagmites, as well as a large subterranean lake where classical music recitals are performed daily.
